Teijdo - weaving classes

We offer weaving classes within the school these classes are taught by local indigenous woman weavers.
These women give classes and also sell products they make - they are the sole earners in their families
You will learn all aspects of weaving from these traditional craftswomen - the culture and history of weaving in Guatemala, traditional techniques of material selection, dyeing and actually weaving.

We offer course in traditional back strap weaving and also in large loom weaving which is the methods used for blankets, rugs and other large items.  You can arrange classes to suit your schedule - a minimum of 5 hours is necessary to complete a small item.

Classes cost $5 per hour this includes instruction and all materials

If you have a design that you would like to incorporate into your weaving please bring it with you.

If you would like to make a large item such as a rug many hours are required please inquire as to the time this will take
